Working Towards a Better Dumbarton

Farewell The Cutty Sark.

May 5, 2008 · Leave a Comment

When the Cutty Sark was burned out in Greenwich a couple of years ago the news echoed in Dumbarton. The ship was the most famous built in the town and represented a time when Dumbarton was a shipbuilding powerhouse. One link with that past is the Cutty Sark bar in High Street Dumbarton. Sadly after many decades as a community pub, the Cutty is to close its doors. A bookmakers has applied for permission to open in the premises. At various stages in my life I have worked in bands and as a DJ in the Cutty Sark so I am sad to see it go.

Edit: Although the decision  was to reject the application by the bookmakers, the future of the Cutty Sark remains uncertain.
